Duties and Responsibilities of Accountant
(Duty Hours – 10:00 to 18:00 )
1. To attend the office punctually and put his
signature on Attendance Register in the presence of Postmaster.
2. To be responsible for maintenance of his
system and secrecy of his own password.
3. To have adequate knowledge of computer and
software to make best utilization of provision made in hardware and software.
4. To be familiar with all the modules being
used in Post Offices.
5. To ensure that the latest version of the
software is being used –viz. Window based system Meghdoot Millennium
(Accountant) module.

v Expenditure
Statement
v Revenue
Statement
v Budget
Estimate
v Quarterly
Statement of ceiling items
- To deal with all kinds of Monthly Audit Objection and Inspection Reports of ICI as well as Audit Inspection Remarks and ensure to settlement thereof.
- To deal with the cases relating to-
v Fixation
of Pay and correct drawal of increment.
v Maintenance
of Increment Register.
v Disposal
of Leave Applications in r/o officials promptly.
v Register
of Service Books and LPC.
v GPF
Slips.
v Drawal
of CEA.
- To submit Cash Account on 1st of each month positively.
- To calculate income Tax in r/o all the officials under account jurisdiction of Bhagalpur HO.
- To deal with Pension Cases of all kinds except Railway Pension and maintain Pension Register and files of Pensioner’s haves of PPO for both HO and SOs/DCRG of all types.
- To be solely responsible for settlement of pension of all the retiring officials.
- To submit returns and Statements timely to CO/AO/SPOs.
- To deal with the cases relating to CGE GIS of Part-I and Part-II.
- To deal with the cases relating to restoration of Commutation of Pension in respect of all types of pension except Railway pension.
- To deal with all correspondence cases relating to his branch.
17.
To perform all other duties of a PA as and when required of him by the Postmaster/
Superintendent.
