Duties and Responsibilities of Postal Assistant
(Point of Sale Counter No.1 to 3)
(Duty Hours – 10:00 to 18:00 )
1.
To attend the office punctually and put his signature on Attendance
Register in the
presence of Postmaster.
2. To be responsible for maintenance and
secrecy of his own password.
3. To have adequate knowledge of computer
and software to make best utilization of
provision made
in hardware and software as well as rulings laid down in Postal Manuals.
4.
To ensure that the latest version of Meghdoot Point of Sale (Network
version) is
being used.
5. To book all categories
of accountable articles of letter and parcel mail for inland and foreign Post
tendered by the customers.
6. To book Speed Post articles
and to transfer data to Speed Net.
7. To do all financial
transactions relating to MOs/PLI collection/TRC/e-Payment/ UCR/ IPOs/RL/
VPL/Ins.L /Ins.PL/Speed Post/Speed Post Passport etc.
8. To do cash remittance
with Treasurer and other counters.
9. To include transaction
items in HO Summary on verification by APM concerned.
10. To generate destination
prescribed registered lists subject to pre-configured pin codes.
11. To maintain record of the
PLI policy details. (Once data is created for ceasing the work during
subsequent transaction)
12. To do all the transaction
–viz. RL/VPL/VPP/Ins.L/Ins. PL/TRC/MO eMO/PLI/ UCR/ Speed Post/ Speed Post
Passport etc. through computer.
13. To take the following
reports printed daily from the computer and hand over to APM-
v
Transaction Report- User-wise
v
Transaction Report – Consolidated Summary.
v
User Account Report
v
Work Allocation
v
MIS – Statistical Report Monthly
v
MO Issue Returns of HO – Monthly
14. To
incorporate the changes /additions/modifications in
tariff/limits/countries/Speed
Post Cities/EPP distance as and
when required.
15. To
maintain the Register of MPCM transaction up-to-date.
12. To
perform all other duties of a PA as and when required of him by the Postmaster/
Superintendent.
